The Rangers are 19-17, Darvish Flirts With Perfection
It seems like it's become a semi-annual ritual with Yu Darvish; that he comes out, absolutely dominates, and for most of the evening, takes us on a fantastic ride.
Alex Rios allowed a ball to drop that he should have caught to end the 7th inning, and Darvish lost the no-hitter with only one out to go as David Ortiz beat the shift.
With that said, I don't want us to lose sight of how absolutely fantastic Darvish was tonight. That was a hell of an outing, and there's no doubt that he's one of the most dominant pitchers in baseball.
No, he won't get the cool mark in the history book -- at least yet -- but if he keeps pitching games like tonight, he very well may get several more opportunities before it's all said and done. It hurts to lose it history like that, but in the end, Yu Darvish showed us tonight -- again -- that he's absolutely an ace and should be the frontrunner for the AL Cy Young Award throughout the course of the season.
Thanks Yu. That was a fun game to watch. Hopefully you'll get the deed finished next time.
