Darvish Could Miss Opening Day

It gets worse. Seriously.

According to T.R. Sullivan, Yu Darivsh played catch on Monday but still has a stiff neck. At this point, it seems highly unlikely that he will be ready to go by Opening Day, as he has yet to get fully stretched out and won't have the opportunity to do so in game action and get the proper rest before March 31.

Given that the neck issues were supposedly from "sleeping wrong" and that the stiffness is still bothering Darvish, it's at least a bit worrisome given the rash of other small injuries that have turned into something more.

Even if Darvish turns out to be fine and only misses a few days at the beginning of the season, I'm not sure I can recall a time in which the entire fan base has been so thoroughly deflated prior to the start of the regular season. Sure, the Rangers weren't always expected to contend, but now that they are, it's been awfully draining to watch Spring Training claim so many Rangers to injury.

Opening Day is close, and I'm almost to the point to where I don't want it to be. Someone get Yu Darvish a massage and a new pillow.
