Report: Rangers Close to Deal for Matt Garza

It's a little sooner than I expected, as I felt that substantial trades would fail to actualize until late into next week, but according to Ken Rosenthal and Jon Paul Morosi, the Rangers are close on a deal to acquire Matt Garza from the Cubs.

Perhaps the line of thinking here is that the Rangers want to acquire Garza before he makes another start, thus allowing them to avoid what will be a spot start of sorts by Ross Wolf on Sunday. Maybe the timing just worked out this way. I suspect we'll know more later.

If the deal happens, it's likely to include Mike Olt, which leaves me somewhat disappointed, but at the same time, given Olt's various struggles, I'm not entirely sure he's worth hanging onto at all costs at this point.

More to come later as information trickles down.
