Well, I can't say I didn't see this coming at some point before a deal was finalized.

I always take "mystery teams" with a grain of salt. In this case, I'd suspect it's nothing more than the Cubs getting it out there that, no, a deal isn't finalized yet, and now that it's generally known what the Rangers are asking for Garza, the Cubs would like to see if anyone would like to jump in at the last minute and place a "higher bid" of sorts.

If not, I suspect we'll see Garza to the Rangers done by tomorrow. I think the Rangers really want to get this thing done so as to avoid Ross Wolf starting on Sunday.
