Wednesday Morning Rangers Strikes

37 days until pitchers and catchers report. For now:

  • The Rangers have re-signed Guilder Rodriguez, the minor league lifer that got a call-up in 2014, to a minor league contract. Rodriguez will likely be at Double-A Frisco, where he essentially has doubled as a super-utility player and mentor/coach to the younger players. It's a feel-good story, and it's nice to see the Rangers make sure to keep him around. I'd imagine he has coaching in his future.
  • Evan Grant answers the question everyone is asking: What to make of Prince Fielder in 2015?
  • Texas signed Carlos Peguero to a minor league deal yesterday. While only a worst-case scenario would have him on the big league club come Opening Day, he's an interesting case given that his wife is currently serving jail time for credit card fraud. More specifically, she scammed Felix Hernandez's wife out of nearly $200,000. So, there's that.
  • In all, Texas signed 8 minor leaguers yesterday. The only one with an invitation to Major League Spring Training is Peguero. The other 7 will be in the minor league camp.
  • Finally, because I'm still salty from Sunday's robbery of the Cowboys, I got bored and had some fun by creating this fun little tool to answer the only important question from that game: Did Dez Bryant catch it?
