72-64

Geez, Labor Day Weekend was busy at the casino. I went to sleep at, like, 9:00 last night. I don't think that's happened since I was in kindergarten.

The Rangers were shutout in the finale in Anaheim on Sunday, a 7-0 blowout that featured few hits but plenty of opportunities squandered. LAA starter Hector Santiago walked 6 in as many innings. It appeared, mostly, like the club packed it in, happy enough taking one out of three against a team they don't seem very concerned with.

Then yesterday, during an obscure 3:40 PM local start time in Seattle, Texas blanked the Mariners 3-0. Yovani Gallardo had a fairly typical second half start for his standards -- 5.1 IP/0 ER/5 H/2 BB/4 K -- throwing 92 pitches. I will give it to him, though. What he hasn't necessarily offered in innings, he's made up for in run prevention. Gallardo's ERA in 2015 is 3.16.

Delino DeShields has a mild knee sprain, per Evan Grant.

With an Astros loss, Texas is back to 2.0 games back in the division, and just one in the loss column.
