Thursday Morning Rangers Strikes
/You know, when Texas traded for Mike Napoli before the 2011 season, he was brought in to be the backup catcher. Yesterday, Carlos Corporan was brought in to be the backup to Robinson Chirinos. I think I'll just leave that thought there and see where it goes.
- T.R. Sullivan says that after fortifying the rotation, the next target for the front office is the bullpen.
- Both Matt Harrison and Jurickson Profar threw Wednesday. Neither had a body part fall off. The heavens rejoiced.
- Yovani Gallardo is very excited to be in Texas and pitching for the team he cheered on growing up. He was also already at the ballpark working out with Yu Darvish on Wednesday.
- Ross Detwiler wants to win a spot in the rotation. Of course, we have the standard "you have to earn it, nothing is given to you" quotes, so there's that.
- Kevin Sherrington says that he thinks the Rangers will contend in 2015. Beyond the obvious health-related reasons, he reasons, "Much will depend, too, on how Feliz holds up as closer." Because yes, the key to the whole thing staying together or falling apart is one reliever that, at his peak level of production, was worth 2.0 fWAR on the season.
